Math Annex, room 1119. Check our contact page for a map.
The Math Annex is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The UMS lounge will reopen once UBC reopens the Math Annex. Check our homepage for the latest updates!
Currently, we are only able to accept cash. In the future, we plan to take credit payments and Interac e-transfers as well.
The UMS does not offer tutoring services, but we can try to get you in touch with members who may be interested in tutoring. You're always welcome to ask us about math!
Nope! Despite the official label of "The Ron Riddell Honours Mathematics Reading Room", everyone is welcome to visit and use the UMS Lounge. (And we certainly do more than reading in the lounge!)
Ronald Cameron Riddell (1938-1981) was a mathematician who attended UBC as an undergraduate and later became a professor. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1981, but his memory lives on in the name of the UMS Lounge and scholarships in the Math Department. A picture of Ron as a young student.
The UBC Math Department website is located at https://www.math.ubc.ca. Note that there is a "www" in front of the address; if you do not include it, you will not be able to access the website. Some modern browsers hide this prefix in the address bar.
The Undergraduate Mathematics Society used to be known as the UBC Math Club. We rebranded as a society in August 2019 to reflect our status as a department-associated academic organization.
